Want to Experience a Serene Life? Travel to Belize

Paris is known as the City of Love, and Las Vegas is referred to as Sin City. Adelaide has been called the City of Churches (though as comedian Danny Bhoy once said, “I think Rome might have something to say about that!”). As for the country of Belize? Individual cities may have their own monikers, but those who have visited this humble country tends to agree that it could be called the Country of Relaxation, or the Country of Serenity.

Indeed, if you are looking to experience a serene life, look no further than Belize.

Unknown Belize

If you’re like most people, you may not know much about Belize, let alone considered spending your vacation time there. And while there are numerous reasons why Belize is a little-known paradise for those looking for a relaxing vacation to complement their serene life, there is another more practical reason why Belize is an excellent vacation destination for Americans and other English-speaking people.

Ease of Language

English is the official language of Belize, making it the only Central American country with English as its official language. A plethora of languages are spoken on the street, including Garifuna, Spanish, Creole, and Mayan languages, but you’ll find everywhere else to be predominantly English.

After all, while traveling to an exotic land can be a wonderfully cultural experience and a thrilling adventure, there’s nothing relaxing or particularly serene about struggling to understand and be understood. When you’re finding it difficult to order a simple meal or make a purchase due to language barriers, all relaxation you may previously have felt will go out the window. Already being fluent in the national language is an excellent start to a serene vacation, making Belize a natural choice for a Central American destination.

The Freedom to Pack Light

Forget your five-piece Samsonite luggage set – on your relaxing Belize vacation you’ll need to pack little more than casual clothing, bathing suits, and a good book to read. Leave your overstuffed toiletries at home and travel light with a Getaway Kit of individually wrapped travel wipes, with everything you need to stay fresh and look and feel refreshed.

It might be wise to check the Belize government’s official Weather Bureau website regularly to see if you’ll need to pack a light umbrella for your trip, but otherwise a trip to Belize is the perfect opportunity to leave home with little more than a daypack of essentials.

Cultural Calmness

While scenery and opportunity play a role, it’s the people that really make the difference between a good holiday and an unforgettable one. And by all accounts, the people of Belize are some of the most relaxed, friendly, and just plain chilled people in the world. Those who have spent any amount of time in Belize typically leave with the same impression: Belize locals are friendly, accommodating, and never in a rush.

Fast Food Frenzies Forgotten

You could circumnavigate the entire country of Belize and not come across a single Burger King, McDonald’s, KFC, or Starbucks restaurant. Nothing takes away the serenity of a pristine location like a hoard of locals and tourists clambering to order fatty processed foods at a fast food joint, and you’ll likely breathe a sigh of relief when you discover that fast food is nowhere to be found in Belize.

Adventure and Amazing Experiences in Belize

A serene vacation doesn’t have to be a boring one: far from it. Belize has a myriad of amazing cultural experiences just waiting to be discovered. How about discovering more about whale sharks while scuba diving? It’s a thrilling adventure, but It would be a breathtaking experience, and given how docile and gentle whale sharks are, it’s an experience that you can savor without worrying for your safety.

Breathtaking Scenery

Belize boasts an almost unlimited smorgasbord of scenery, yet you don’t need to stand still and take it all in from a distance. Imagine the serenity of winding up a two-hour hike with a visit inside the mouth of the Actun Tunichil Muknal cave. You don’t have to stop at the mouth of the cave either, as getting inside is possible if you don’t mind swimming through narrow openings. Inside the cave, sacrificial remains, Mayan pots, and unbelievable rock formations await.

Divers’ World

Serious divers know the indescribable stillness and serenity that accompanies any dive in a pristine location, and Belize doesn’t disappoint. Dedicated divers dream of experiencing the Great Blue Hole, along with the extensive range of other diving opportunities on offer in Belize.

If you’re thinking that including diving on your Belize vacation means packing an extra suitcase with all your diving gear, think again. Renting diving gear in Belize is easy and ridiculously affordable, and other Belize diving adventure companies offer dive gear rental as an inexpensive extra to their diving tours and adventures.
