Excellent advice for travellers visiting the capital city of London for the first time

Home » Blog » Excellent advice for travellers visiting the capital city of London for the first time

November 3, 2016 //  by theinternationalwanderer//  Leave a Comment

Summary: Tourists will adore the English capital of London and for a successful trip should know where to go and what to see when they head there for their first holiday.

LondonLondon is an amazing city for first-time travellers who will fall under its spell with its beautiful buildings, wonderful cuisine and fabulous landmarks. New visitors will want to see everything and that impulse should be curbed as there is only so much time a traveller has for a break. Packing in too much will ruin a vacation as a tourist should not be exhausted when they are in the city. Firstly they should venture around the area that they are staying near their hotel as that will be their base for the holiday period. Next travellers should make an itinerary of where they want to head to for their holiday and then find cafes or restaurants nearby.

Travellers vary in what interests them when they head on holiday as some may want to see the city’s cultural institutions while others may want to just go shopping. There is genuinely something for everyone in this incredible capital city. For a slice of the arts tourists can visit the Kensington cultural quarter where they can head to the Science Museum and the superb Victoria and Albert Museum. These are both ideal for families as they offer a range of activities that will keep children interested. The National Gallery and the Tate Galleries are also particularly wonderful establishments that provide a great day out for travellers.

Tourists will be really pleased when they head to central London as there will be plenty of luxury accommodations for them. They should definitely venture to the Paddington area of the capital where they can stay at the Kingsway Park Hotel that’s a lovely residence housed in an old Victorian listed building. There are many amazing hotels in Sussex Gardens where these lodgings are based and tourists will adore the tranquillity of the area. There are brilliant pieces of art work in the hallways and rooms of this residence. The living spaces offer en-suite bathrooms with hairdryers, while modern amenities include Wi-Fi internet.

For those that want to be dazzled by the city there are numerous places to head to including the beautiful building of Buckingham Palace. The London Eye is nearby and offers stunning views of the city below, and tourists can also head to the iconic Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. Travellers will also love seeing the stunning building of St Paul’s Cathedral with its famous dome that is an important part of the city’s skyline. A trip to the Shard is also worth it to see the city as its very best, and discover this excellent building with great eateries.

Shopping is an important part of visiting London as there are so many destinations to head to including Oxford Street and the designer stores of Knightsbridge. The city also has many excellent markets including Borough Market for its food and drink, and Camden Market for its handmade goods and bookshops. The city is full of amazing retail spots including the famous Portobello Road Market that is a wonderful place to pick up some vintage clothes or antiques. First-time travellers in London will have a great time if they plan ahead and work out exactly where they want to go, and what they want to see in this exciting capital city.
