Malta, Gozo and Comino are the three inhabited islands out of seven that make up the Maltese archipelago. A south European country, it is the world’s smallest country as well as the most densely populated one. It is situated in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, just 80 km to the south of Sicily and 333 km towards the north of Libya.

Malta enjoys one of the most pleasurable climates with nonstop sunshine April through September. The hottest period begins in the middle of July and continues to the end of September, but in the nights one can enjoy cool breezes blowing in from the sea. The average temperatures in summer is 23ºC and winter is 11ºC.

Costal cliffs, low rocky terrain, caves, wrecks, and a diverse range of flora and fauna make Malta an important tourist destination. The wrecks act as artificial reef habitats and provide residence for a large number of animal species. They also provide tourists with fascinating dive sites.

Maltese cuisine is renowned for its unique taste. Minestrone soup, fish, pasta and pastry dishes are the standard items on a menu. Stuffed dishes are a speciality of the country and the national dish is Stuffat Tal-Fenek (rabbit stew).
