There are more than three thousand foreign students enrolled in the over 400 English taught programs in Slovenian colleges and universities. Students studying in these programs do not have to obtain permanent residency. Some of the programs available include: Education and Teacher training, Engineering, Tourism & Leisure, Urban planning & architecture, Medical & health Science to name a few.
Admission requirements are fairly straight forward. To be admitted to an undergraduate program, you need Secondary School Leaving Certificate, proof of English proficiency like TOFEL or IELTS and having completed one year of university successfully in your home country. For graduate studies, in addition to School Leaving Certificate from Senior Secondary, proof of English and a Bachelor’s degree.
Slovenia is a student’s paradise. Students get meals that are government subsidized, this means the students only about 20% of the cost of the meal. Top this off by the fact that in most restaurants, students are entitled to roughly 80% discount! This is particularly true for cities with heavy student population. Similar story is true for student accommodation.
Students enrolled in a college or university in Slovenia, and interested in pursuing other education outside the classroom, can do so at huge discounts. Sports courses like tennis, or fitness classes, non-sport related activities like photography classes, or language courses are especially discounted for students.
Exchange programs are very popular and well organized in Slovenia. Almost every faculty, academy, college or university has bilateral agreements with universities around the globe for student exchange programs. You just have to check for specifics in your country.
