The UK offers so many wonderful experiences just waiting to be explored by both locals and tourists, which make the island nation so great. For this reason, you should read the five things all travelers must do in the UK.

1.  Explore the English Countryside

One thing the UK is not short of is beautiful rolling green hills, stunning coastline and unencumbered natural beauty. Regardless of whether you are planning a visit to England, Scotland, Northern Ireland or Wales, you will be a stone’s throw away from beautiful countryside. For example, you can enjoy a stay at The Black Swan in Helmsley, one the finest hotels in Yorkshire, located a short distance away from the famous North York Moors. You can also explore the mesmerizing Scottish Highlands’ rugged landscape that has never changed, or can go on a long walk through Anglesey to soak in the stunning surroundings.

2.  Grab a Pint at Traditional British Pub

Every city and town in the UK offers a great British pub for you to enjoy a pint or two. Yet, there are some pubs that demand to be explored, as there are many that date back hundreds of years. For example, the Golden Fleece in York is almost certainly worth a visit, as the 16-century pub is believed to be one of the most haunted establishments in the country, but offers a fun and friendly atmosphere in a central location. While the Hole in T’Wall is a 401-year-old hidden gem in Bowness-on-Windermere, which offers charming wooden beams and historical items dotted throughout the public house.

3.  Visit the Unique Beaches

Many people don’t often think about beautiful beaches when visiting the UK, but the nation offers unique sites that are perfect come rain or shine. For example, you cannot help falling in love with the Hebrides in Scotland, which offers beautiful white sand beaches that look straight out of the Caribbean. You can also visit 100 cast-iron men dotted across Crosby Beach in Liverpool, which are simply a sight to behold, and the artwork is known as Another Place by Anthony Gormley.

4.  Experience Afternoon Tea

People who want to soak up the tradition and culture of the UK should treat themselves to afternoon tea, which offers a selection of finger food, cakes and teas. The Black Swan’s famous Tearoom in Helmsley is the perfect place to do just that. The unique dining experience is currently held at tea rooms and restaurants across the United Kingdom, and dates back to 1840, as it prevented the seventh Duchess of Bedford from feeling hungry throughout the day.

5.  Visit a Castle

Regardless of whether you love or loathe the Royal Family, palaces and castles dotted across the UK are a major part of British heritage and are architectural beauties. Look beyond Buckingham Palace to witness some of the oldest and most beautiful palaces in the UK, such as the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, Balmoral Castle in Royal Deeside and Kensington Palace in Kensington Gardens, London. Castle ruins in Helmsley will also take you back to the twelfth century!
