Studying in the Falkland Islands

Given the reduced size and population of the Falkland Islands, study opportunities for foreigners are less generous than in other corners of the world. There are no higher-education institutions in the region, and those who wish to continue their studies are financed by the local authorities, usually in the UK.

Some organisations arrange ocean-wide expeditions which revolve around studying the Islands’ wildlife. Activities include cruising, shore excursions, hiking, and wildlife spotting.

Since the Falkland Islands are an English-speaking region, you could also pursue a language programme. You can sign up with a private or public institution or search for a private tutor.

There are several nationals that do not require a visa to enter the Falkland Islands, but contact a local embassy for more information.
