Support Team: Childcare and Education

We offer two oppotunities to those wishing to volunteer and give back at our two community projects. These are as follows:

Casa Hogar Torre Fuerte, Arequipa
This is a home for girls and young women aged from 2 to 18 who have been removed from their families due to abuse, neglect or abandonment. Our volunteers support the girls and the local staff with homework help, domestic tasks and contributing to a safe and stable home environment. We ask that volunteers at this project dedicate a minimum of two weeks. Due to the nature of the project, there is limited availabilty for male volunteers.

Colegio Honofre Benavides, Cotahausi Canyon
This is a state school in a rural area. Our volunteers support the local teachers in areas such as English and computing. Tomepampa is in a beautiful location in the spectacular Cotahuasi canyon. However this is a remote, underprivileged region. We are therefore working alongside the school to help students expand their options and become more active in their own communities. We ask that those wishing to volunteer here dedicate a minimum of one month.

About Organisation

Volunteers Peru is a small grassroots NGO based in the city of Arequipa in southern Peru. We are currently working in partnership with two projects where volunteers can make a positive contribution to the local community. The first is a home for abandoned girls in Arequipa; the second a primary and secondary school in Tomepampa in the Cotahuasi canyon. We are committed to helping the children that we work with to fulfil their personal and educational needs, and to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Long and short-term opportunities are available. Both projects are greatly in need of support.
